A Study of the Advantages of the Best Residential Proxies (Series 1)

The demand for proxy residential has increased significantly in recent years. These IPs are usually dynamically assigned to home users by Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and are particularly suited for use as intermediaries to pass Zero IP blocking of a target service for the purpose of registering multiple accounts, web crawling, etc. This emerging market has given rise to a service model called "Residential Proxy Services" by ProxyLab. This emerging market has given rise to a new service model called "residential proxies" offered by companies such as ProxyLite, StormProxies, Microleaves, and others. These providers have a large number of residential proxies that are used to proxies customers' communications with any Internet destination.

The main advantage of residential IP proxies is that they offer a higher level of privacy and security. The fact that these IP addresses look like those of regular home users makes it more difficult for requests using these proxies to be detected and blocked by the target service. This is extremely helpful for users who need to perform activities such as multi-account management, ad verification and market research across different platforms.

Practical Examples of Residential IP Proxies

1. Ad verification and multi-account management

Advertisers and marketers can utilize residential proxies to verify the effectiveness of ad placement and ensure that the ads are accurately displayed in front of the target audience. Meanwhile, when managing multiple accounts on social media or e-commerce platforms, using different residential proxies can avoid being recognized and blocked by the platform.

2.Data Capture and Market Research

With residential IP proxies, companies can conduct data crawling and market research more efficiently to get competitors' pricing information and market trends, which helps them stay ahead of the competition in the market.

3.Improve SEO Ranking

By using residential IP proxies to simulate visits from different regions, you can improve your website's ranking in search engines and increase your website's exposure and traffic.

Author's Research

Understanding residential IP proxies services is not easy. Unlike open proxies that can be easily found online, the IP addresses of proxies are not directly published and can only be accessed through the intermediary of the proxy provider.

With this in mind, the author used a set of innovative techniques to conduct the first large-scale study to understand the ways in which proxies are used for legitimate and beneficial purposes. The study was based on a novel framework for automated IP discovery from relevant services. more specifically, the services of a commercial proxies provider were first purchased and a set of clients were run that communicated with the author's web server through these services. The traffic in the communication was carefully tagged with unique subdomains and other parameters to help the server identify the IPs of the residential proxies, to enable the author's system to look up DNS resolvers, and to ensure that the residential proxies' traffic was captured. IPs found in this way were further analyzed to extract a unique set of Whois and DNS features to determine that they were indeed residential IPs.

Research Findings

Using the author's framework, the author analyzed 5 leading residential proxy providers including ProxyLite, Proxies Online, IAPS Security, and ProxyRack, from which 6.18 million unique IPs were found over a period of 4 months. As a result, the author was able to conduct the first ever study of residential proxy services. The author's analysis revealed these residential proxies as legitimate intermediaries as well as complicit service providers. Here are the author's key findings:

1. wide distribution

The RESIPs discovered by the author are distributed across 238 countries and territories, covering 28,035 /16 network prefixes and 52,905 ISPs. the vast majority (95.22%) are considered to be indeed residential IPs, and very few (2.20%) are reported by public blacklists or emerging threat intelligence platforms.

2.Multifunctional Uses:

The author found that proxies are not only used for legitimate ad verification and market research, but also help users manage multiple accounts on social media and e-commerce platforms to improve business efficiency.

3.User Consent:

Despite the possible security risks of some hosts, the service provider's proxies are voluntarily joined by ordinary users. This suggests that users can knowingly and voluntarily join these networks to provide proxies for other users.

Conclusion.

The author's research has revealed the infrastructure, scale and wide range of legitimate uses for proxies services. These findings highlight the great potential and applications of this emerging service. Through the judicious use of residential proxies, organizations and individuals can improve online privacy, security, and operational efficiency. The author's research methods and techniques can be further applied to proxies services to ensure their legitimate and secure use.
